Online Faculty Development

The Online Faculty Development course is a self-paced professional development course designed to introduce faculty to best practices for teaching online.  It is available in Blackboard to all GW instructors of record. You will find it listed under "Special Use" on your "My Blackboard" page. 

Benefits

A goal of the course is to give you some of the experience of taking an online course in Blackboard, while also providing a wealth of curated resources covering all aspects of online teaching. So, within the course you will find links, readings, and videos, but also quizzes, assignments, and discussion boards. The quizzes are self-grading and provide immediate feedback. Topics covered include:

  • Module 1: Introduction to Online Teaching
  • Module 2: Course Design and Assessment
  • Module 3: Assignments and Activities
  • Module 4: Discussion and Engagement
  • Module 5: Feedback and Grading
  • Module 6: Media and Content
